Theme: Green

Spring means lizards and snakes are awake! We have Anole's, Texas Spiny Lizards, Geckos, and a variety of snakes. Thankfully all I've found in our yard is the Rough Earth Snake which are small. Here is my green! An Anole hanging out on Pencil Cactus.

 I captured this image on the last day of Jan. when we took a family trip to the Dallas Zoo.  This gorilla was sitting next to the glass.  I used my 100mm macro lens to capture her hand & foot details.  My heels look about the same as hers right now.

The Bluebonnet is the Texas state flower, it is a species of the lupine.  They bloom for a few weeks in the spring and can be seen along Texas highways, roadways, and undeveloped land.

Many families including my own have made an annual tradition of taking photos in these beautiful flowers!

*Note these were taken a few weeks ago, most of the Bluebonnets are seeding up or are being over taken by grass in our area now.

Theme: Macro/Close Up Photography

One of my favorite themes yet!  I've admired macro photography for a while and have attempted close up photography using an extension tube or free lensing but haven't been very successful.   For my 40th birthday in December my hubby got me the 100mm Macro lens.  I'm still leaning and it's amazing to see the details of nature close up.

Easter is my second favorite holiday next to Christmas.  Especially since it takes place during my favorite season of the year.  Everything is coming to life, new flowers, the grass is coming out of dormancy, and new baby animals.
