2015 Kids Summer Bucket List for Flower Mound/Highland Village and Dallas/Fort Worth, TX Areas
It appears we may have a wet Summer so I've included several indoor activities.
Flower Mound Summer Reading Program, it begins on June 4th with a kick off on Sat., June 6th from 12-2 p.m. There are 3 age groups for their programs, age 0-Pre-K, K-5, and grades 6-12.
There are also special library events during the Summer each week on Wednesday and Thursday for school age children. Click here for the schedule. One of our favorites is Critterman!
Lewisville Summer Reading Program, kick off is also on June 6th from 2-4 p.m.
Summer events include Prime Explorations for grades 1-3 on Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Catch up on a movie you missed or one of your favorites on the big screen!

Dallas Zoo, it's on our list to see the new baby giraffe! Open from 9-5 p.m. daily. They have an awesome children's area that includes a wading creek so bring your swimsuit. You can also feed the giraffes which is a lot of fun too!
Fort Worth Zoo has 2 baby elephants you have to visit! Open from 10-5 p.m. M-F, and 10-6 p.m. Sat. & Sun.

Fort Worth Science and History Museum $15 for adults, $11 for children, they also have great shows on IMAX. Open 10-5 p.m. M-Sat., 12-5 p.m. Sun.
Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place
McKinney, TX 75069 Open-Tues.-Sat. 9-5 p.m. $10 adults, $7 children.
Dallas Arboretum Open 9- 5 p.m. It has a beautiful new children's garden with fun activities for children to explore! $15 for adults w/$3 extra for children's garden and $10 for children w/$3 extra for children's garden.
Dallas Museum of Art Free, open Tues., Wed., Fri., Sat., and Sun. from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Thurs. 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Forth Worth Botanical Gardens Open dawn to dusk, if you want to visit the conservatory there is a $2 fee for adults and $1 for per child and the Japanese Garden is $5 for adults and $3 per child.
Grapevine Botanical Gardens, free and the closest garden to Flower Mound. It's small but easy to get around. There is a playground next to the gardens and Koi fish feeding.

Dallas Summer Musicals, we are looking forward to seeing Cinderella with my older daughters Girl Scout Troop.
Ohlook, located in Grapevine, TX also offers camps for kids.

Splash Pads
Grapevine has several splash pads, all free!
Parr Park Spray Ground has several shaded pavilions and a colorful playground. Open 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Dove Park, 1509 Hood Lane, Grapevine, TX has a beautiful playground, Splash Pad, and small waterpark. The Splash Pad includes a large bucket and a few sprayers. The playground and splash pad are free. The waterpark is $5 for non-residents and $2 for Grapevine residents.
Cannon Parkway Park, 750 Cannon Parkway-This is across from Hawaiian Falls in Roanoke. It includes one shaded picnic area plus a playground.
Klyde Warren Park, free and amazing! Open 6 a.m.-11 p.m. It's built over Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Dallas. They have a playground, spash pad, games, dog park, outdoor library, and food trucks.

Best Gymnastics has 1/2 day camps, this works great on days I have a portrait session and my kids are tired of going to drop in childcare. The times are 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. You send a lunch if they are going in the AM camp. $25 per session.
