Road Trip Part 3 | DFW, TX Photographer

Road Trip Part 3

We reached our destination, Colorado Springs and the 1st day we took a train ride on the Cogs Railway.  It's located in Manitou Springs, Colorado.  It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it!  The day we rode the train it was rainy and overcast but we were still able to enjoy the ride up to Pikes Peak.  The scenery is breathtaking with waterfalls, wildlife, and landscape changes from trees to rocks.  Once we reached the top we couldn't see much as the clouds were low.  On the plus side it started snowing while we were up there and large flakes too!  The kids had a blast watching the snow fall.

This summer sped by quickly even with an extra week this year.  It's hard to believe our oldest is entering her last year of elementary school.  I've been taking her "back to school" portraits since she was 3 1/2.

Have you scheduled your Fall session? I'm also offering Mini-Sessions, check it out!

Mountain Portraits | Child Portrait Photographer, Flower Mound, TX

On our last night in Colorado Springs, Colorado I decided I wanted to get some portraits of our girls with the red rocks.  I quickly scouted a park via Google (Red Rock Open Space) that wasn't far away and was free.  We chased the sun a bit with it quickly setting.  I literally took these within 8 minutes as it was getting dark.  Too bad we didn't have more time to explore this trail, it looks like a beautiful place!

I love this shot of this Meerkat I took at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He looked right into the camera!

Road Trip Part 2 | Capulin Volcano and Royal Gorge Bridge

Day 2 on the road we drove upon Capulin Volcano in Capulin, New Mexico.  It was decleared a National Monument in 1916.

Our next stop was Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City, Colorado.  It reaches across the the canyon over the Arkanas River. My husband had visited it many years ago on a father/son trip.  We found out during the documentary that a fire broke out in June of 2013 burning the visitor center, theater, sky ride, and amusement park.  The bridge itself only received minimal damage.  In August of 2014 the park re-opened.
