Seeing the details | Dallas/Ft. Worth Photographer

I love details which draws me to macro photography especially in nature.
Recently  I purchased the Fotodiox extension tube, I figured it was worth $12 to have a fun new toy.
I must say it is not the easiest to use but after some practice I'm hoping to get the hang of it.  First you need to make sure the tubes are tight.  You also loose control of your aperture so you will need to expose your image using shutter speed and ISO only.  Move in close to your subject, I found that still objects were the easiest to capture.  I attempted to take some of a lizard but as I moved in close he ran off, I guess he was camera shy!  Using a tripod is also helpful.

Preparing for your maternity session | Dallas/Ft. Worth Maternity to newborn photographer

Preparing for your Maternity Session

  • Schedule your session between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy while you are feeling good and not completely out of energy.
  • Choose a location with in mind of the style you want out of your portraits.  Some examples are:
  1. A park with large trees and grass.
  2. creek
  3. lake with sand or large rocks
  4. downtown
  5. town square
  6. in-home such as the baby's nursery
  • Carefully plan what to wear and bring accessories and/or a change of clothes to mix up textures and color.  Some suggestions are a scarf or shawl, skirt, regular jeans (unbuttoned), solid tops, complimentary jewelry with interesting textures.
  • Bring something special to include such as your ultrasound photo, baby shoes, or a baby outfit(s) to string along a clothes line.
  • For more ideas check out my maternity session inspiration board on Pinterest.

Summer Bucket List | Dallas/Ft. Worth Children's Photographer

Summer Bucket List

My oldest daughter completed her first year of elementary school, it's hard to believe it's over!

Since we are so used to daily activity, I'm preparing to keep my kids entertained this Summer.  I've read about Summer Bucket Lists before and took a look at a few last year but never pulled through with creating one of our own.  A friend posted about her Activity Bucket and I love the idea, she has it color coded with Popsicle sticks.  It is similar to this one except hers have actual colored sticks.  So off to Pinterest I went in search of lists that I could print out.  I found that many had local activities which didn't work for me since I don't live in the same area.  I found this great printable list to fill in your own blanks!

Next to each line I marked a dot to indicate the color code.

Yellow-Outside
Blue-Treat
Orange-Science
Red-Art
Purple-Learning
Green-Car Trip

Next I wrote on each stick and had my daughters' color the top each stick.  On some sticks we used 2 colors to indicate that it was a car trip and outdoor activity, special treat, etc...

Here is our list of 50.
